Transnet has withdrawn its offer to buy land, which is now the site of the Durban International Airport, from Airports Company South Africa (Acsa).

A source said this week that Acsa wanted R3 billion for the land. A Transnet spokesman said that based on the latest capacity requirements of key clients, the site would not be needed for 15 to 20 years.

Acsa said a number of parties had shown interest, but no transaction had been made yet. – Slindile Khanyile
