A national transport data bank that will provide adequate and necessary information on all forms of transportation in Nigeria will soon be launched, the Director-General/Chief Executive, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NIIT), Zaria, Dr. Aminu Musa Yusuf, has said.
He spoke during an interactive session with journalists on the sidelines of a workshop and stakeholders’ meeting on the project, organised by the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), Ibadan.
He said: “The project would provide necessary data and information to solve daily challenges and guide individuals and corporate organisations on air, road, rail and maritime transport modes.â€
Speaking through the Director, Transport Research and Intelligence of the institute, Mr. Saliu Babatunde Akintayo, the NIIT Director-General said the workshop would help to provide strategies for collection and analysis for the project.
He lamented that the absence of accurate data and information in the transport sector was responsible for the failure of some of the previous projects in the country.
