Be Moved – Smart Cities/Smart Mobility
i-Transport 26-27 May 2015

Please diarise 26-17 May 2015 for the biennial International i-Transport Conference and Exhibition. This is ITS South Africa’s premier event for benchmarking, sharing information, building new capacity, energizing colleagues and networking with industry stakeholders and, as the saying goes “the business of business is business.” i-Transport will be hosted at Gallagher, Midrand and the umbrella theme for 2015 is “Be Moved.”

As part of the strategic thrust to raise the bar and put ITS on an acceleration trajectory, the
i-Transport programme will be pro-active and streamlined to encourage participation and discussion.

Day one will be a plenary with the focus on issues of policy and strategy. Building on the plenary, day two will have two parallel sessions linking the theme “Be Moved” to the clarion call for ITS to “leverage smart cities/smart mobility”. Session one will be titled “Connected Traveller” and Session two will be titled “Connected Operations”.

The deadline for abstracts is Friday 30 January 2015.

BRT Standard

The BRT Standard is an evaluation tool for world-class bus rapid
transit (BRT) based on international best practices. It is also
the centerpiece of a global effort by leaders in bus rapid transit
design to establish a common definition of BRT and ensure
that BRT systems more uniformly deliver world-class passenger
experiences, significant economic benefits, and positive
environmental impacts.

ITS World Congress 2015: Call for Papers

Submission of draft technical, commercial and full scientific papers and Special Interest Session proposals is still open. The final deadline is 19 January 2015.

The biennial UITP World Congress and Exhibition offers participants a unique opportunity to discover the very latest public transport market developments and learn from industry leaders. The event is hosted on 8 – 10 June 2015 in Milan.

Year-end Message
Challenging in many respects, but very rewarding in others. This is perhaps the appropriate way to summarise the year that is fast winding down.
