Congestion is a very serious issue with significant consequences, and it requires a coordinated response from multiple stakeholders.
ITSSA invites you and your colleagues to participate in a one day workshop titled “Taking Action to Mitigate Congestion” in Cape Town on 3 April 2019.
The first session of the workshop will comprise presentations updating participants on the current status quo of traffic congestion, followed by an open forum discussion to highlight and record the various viewpoints and perspectives of participants.
The second session will describe current and planned initiatives and projects tackling congestion mitigation. This will be followed by a second open forum discussion to provide a framework of key actions that will contribute to congestion mitigation.
The programme is scheduled so as to allow participants to network and discuss matters further over cocktails and a finger supper after the completion of the formal events, and avoid the afternoon congestion on the city exit routes
While many of the presentations will focus on information from the City of Cape Town, given the city’s status as the “most congested city in South Africa”, the objective of the workshop is to use such information as a case study and establish learning points of value for application for all our cities.
This workshop aims to be an initial step in establishing broader collaboration amongst the wide spectrum of influential stakeholders, in which ITSSA can play a role.
