AGM Keynote Speaker
The keynote speaker is Ricky Croock, CEO of VumaCam. His topic is The evolution of a smart city using CCTV surveillance.
After Vumatel pioneered last-mile fibre into residential areas, VumaCam became South Africa’s first and only video management-as-a-service provider, deploying hi-tech cameras strategically across entire suburbs on a solid fibre network to ensure a consistent, reliable and quality feed. VumaCam’s sophisticated system architecture enables intelligent video analytics; from licence plate recognition to the real-time detection of abnormal activities, this centralised video management solution rests on its secure Tier-3 datacentre. Special Interest Group Mobility 4.0
The SIG on Mobility 4.0 has developed from earlier initiatives in areas such as Big Data and Cyber Security. Its focus is on the transport implications of the main trends guiding Digital Transformation in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The SIG Mobility 4.0 incorporates the existing ITS Standards User Group. SIG Mobility 4.0 is a primary operational tool towards the objectives of ITSSA regarding the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
One of the tasks of this SIG is to action the “Ten Key Tasks” resulting from the Big Data meetings. A second task is to prepare for the Workshop on Mobility 4.0 scheduled on 16 October 2019 in Gauteng.

Workshop on Mobility 4.0
The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is ramping up the challenges. This is true for all sectors of society and mobility is at its cutting edge. 5G connectivity is multiplying the magnitude of devices in the Internet of Things (IoT). Big Data and Cloud Computing are delivering real-time answers while machine-leaning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are rapidly hitherto unthinkable avenues to make mobility smarter and the Platform Economy introduces novel ways of connecting Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions. This workshop as an initiative of the Special Interest Group on Mobility 4.0 as part of the journey of mobility in the Digital Age.

Specialist Interest Group Road Safety
The inaugural meeting of the Road Safety Special Interest Group (SIG) is scheduled for 18 September in Cape Town. With more than 14 000 road deaths annually, much more needs to be done to prevent crashes and save lives. There are multiple ITS technologies and solutions that can be better utilised to support the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety. To follow a better co-ordinated approach, a Special Interest Group (SIG) for Road Safety will be established.
